BARÇA

Hola everyone!

This is probably going to be a long long long post but here is (what I remember) of our Barcelona shenanigans...

8 of us Aussies, and 3 Americans took a flight last Friday night and arrived in glorious 15 degree weather to a cute little hostel called 'Hostel One'. It was 11pm already, but that's ok because in Barcelona restaurants don't even seem to open before about 9pm. We ate and then headed out to celebrate the beginning of Simon's 21st.

It was a pretty crazy club, with bubbles floating everywhere, and ridiculously huge drinks and the atmosphere was awesome! We danced till about 4:30 and only got home around 5.

See the bubbles in the top of the photo!!

The next day we slept in, and then headed to the beach :) It's hard to believe that 15 degrees is now what I would consider 'hot'. It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was pretty desperate to get into the water and managed to convince Simon to join, however after 2 minutes I was ready to get right back out. It was almost Camps Bay cold.

After that we all went and had pizza for lunch at the port, before heading to wander around the gothic quarter. There were lots of cute shops and delicious looking food and we eventually stopped at a gelato shop which even had 'vegan gelato' for Emma (the blonde girl below). She was ecstatic.

In the evening we went to an incredible tapas restaurant and had all the typical tapas foods like fried fish, calamari, potatoes etc. and it was absolutely delicious (and cheap)!

We then all went for a cocktail before heading back to the hostel for a relatively early night.

The next morning most of us headed to the Parc Güell, the park designed by Gaudi, to check out the beautiful view over Barcelona.

We then had a coffee at the top, before wandering back down through the gardens.

In the afternoon we had some delicious paella for lunch, before wandering around near Las Ramblas and having a look at the shops (I bought a really cool ring).

In the evening a few of us went for an incredible dinner at the port, where we ate calamari, mussels, salads, spaghetti bolognese and crema catalana, a Spanish version of crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious! After that we ran to catch the last metro and head home to sleep, as most of us were leaving Barcelona the next day.

I had to be up early to start my epic journey to Sweden, but as I do not have the patience to wait for any more photos to upload, those stories will have to wait until tomorrow.

Adiós!
